UMG And Scooter Braun’s Schoolboy Records Team UP!!
Universal Music Group (UMG) has announced a broad-reaching agreement with artist manager Scooter Braun and his Schoolboy Records. Scooter is currently involved with three acts whose singles have been in the Top Ten of Billboard’s Hot 100 for the past five weeks: Bieber’s "Boyfriend", "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen and “Glad You Came” by The Wanted.
As part of the agreement, UMG will invest in and distribute Schoolboy Records worldwide, and Scooter will serve as a Creative Consultant to UMG Chairman/CEO Lucian Grainge.
Scooter tells LATimes:
Scooter began his career as a party promoter and leveraged his success into a marketing position at So So Def Records, working for Jermaine Dupri while still a sophomore at Emory University in Atlanta. He first discovered Asher Roth on MySpace, and at 25, he discovered then-13-year-old Justin Bieber and launched him into megastar.
